The whole model as seen from the back

The bushes and trees are made from lichen and flock. Areas of ironwork were drawn on the computer then printed onto acetate. There are such iron railings all along the building front outer wall. Also in the picture below you can see an iron glazed walkway between two sections of the interior building.

It was quite a fun bit of detective work mapping out the interior, using a written official tour of the original workhouse.

Models of beds for the residents.

The iron bed was for the long term clients, while the simple wooden type was for the short term or ‘overnight’ residents. You can see the little holes at the foot of the wooden bed for sweeping the dust out of.
